For Jake Hanson, it was the perfect solution to a deep darkness. The accident took more than the use of his legs; it took everything that made him feel like a man. He needs their ménage. It puts him on the path to healing. With Jessie and Chad, he can conquer anything…he thinks.

Jessica Hanson did it all for her husband, to make him feel whole again. She didn’t want a threesome. At least, that’s what she believed in the beginning. But when she realizes that she can’t imagine life without both her husband and his best friend by her side, she’ll question everything she thought completed her.

FBI agent Chad Wilson, couldn’t believe he agreed to his best friend’s proposal. There were too many things beyond his control that could go wrong. But when things go right, he is forced to admit to the best months of his life. Yet on the heels of his greatest joy comes his greatest fear. He’s endangered them all, and the clock is ticking.

They’ll push the boundaries and blur the lines, coming face to face with one of life’s hardest truths: Sometimes to become whole, you have to break.

Jessica trailed her finger idly along Jacob’s shoulder and watched the little white ball as it spun round and around on the roulette wheel. She never was one to leave life to chance, so it fascinated her that so many people were willing to risk their hard-earned money on a whim. Her stomach ached for the young gentleman across the table with one hundred dollars riding on red.
“No more bets,” the dealer said, fanning his hands out over the table. A few seconds later, the ball plunked into an empty space.
“Now that’s what I’m talking about,” the young man roared when the ball landed on number thirty. He swept his date into a dramatic kiss. The hem of her short red dress traveled precariously higher up her thigh as he lowered her backward into a deep bend. Their lips parted, and he smiled devilishly. “I’m telling you, it’s the dress. Red is hot tonight!”
Chad chuckled behind Jessica. “Maybe he has the right idea. What do you say, Jake? Your girl has red on too. Looks pretty hot to me. Are you game?”
“Hell, yeah.” Jacob laid a hundred-dollar chip on the outside board for an odd-number bet. He glanced over his shoulder and winked. “Come on, lucky number three.”
“Ha, ha, ha,” Jessica said with a smile, trying to cover the panic rushing through her at the idea of losing so much money in one fell swoop. “I get it, but don’t you dare lay your chip on the inside board. Single bet odds are 37 to 1, and I’ll be pissed if you lose a hundred dollars in thirty seconds.”
“Where’s your sense of adventure?” Jacob asked.
“Your wife is plenty adventurous…in other ways.” Chad’s throaty chuckle teased her ear as he rested his hand on her hip, leaning into the table and placing his hundred-dollar chip on red.
The heat of his touch through her thin dress set her pulse racing, and she turned to find her nose level with his neck. She inhaled the subtle scent of his cologne. It clung to her like a foggy haze, and her insides slowly melted.
Oh good God. He smelled exactly like her husband—sporty and delicious. If she closed her eyes for a moment, she’d have no problem imagining Jacob was the man standing so close to her…same height…similar build.
“You’re smoking hot tonight, Jessie,” he whispered in her ear. “And I’m feeling like a lucky guy.”
Tingles filled her belly as blood surged into her cheeks. She sipped her drink, trying to moisten her parched mouth. Her nerves felt stretched and uncomfortable from the intimate response of her traitorous body. What is going on? Chad had never aroused any interest in her before. She’d agreed to a surrogate lover for Jacob’s pleasure. Not her own.
A wave of guilt swept over her, and she leaned down to kiss the top of Jacob’s head. What they were about to do felt wrong in so many ways. Many marriages and friendships went up in flames after venturing into the murky waters of a ménage. Jacob might think he wanted to see her being pleasured by another man, but would the reality be more than he could handle? Was it worth the risk?
